Most people come to Brela for the sea. And then one morning they wake up a little earlier, look towards the hills and wonder — what’s up there? The answer is simple: some of the most beautiful scenery on the entire Makarska Riviera, trails that smell of pine and sage, views that justify every step, and a silence you simply cannot find on the beach.

All hiking trails in Brela start from Gornji Krič, and a detailed map is available at the TZO Brela Info Centre. Stop by before you set off and pick up a map — it’s so much nicer to walk when you know where you’re going.

The French Road Brela: when history walks beside you

The French Road, also known as Napoleon’s Road, is one of the most sought-after hiking trails in Brela — and it’s no wonder. You walk through the forest, reach a viewpoint overlooking the sea, and continue along an educational trail to the Chapel of St. Kaja. Around 5 kilometres, two hours of walking, and perfect for a morning excursion before the beach. Easy, well-marked, and so beautiful you’ll wish you’d set off the day before.

Hiking trail Sv. Nikola: for those who want to breathe

For those who want a little more than a morning stroll, the Sv. Nikola hiking trail will reward every step. From Gornji Krič through the Chapel of St. Kaja and Nevistina Stina to the Church of St. Nicholas — around 6.5 kilometres and four hours of walking through Mediterranean nature you rarely see from the beach. When you return, the sea will look even more beautiful. We promise.

Hiking trail Topići: mountain and sea in a single day

If you have a full day and good fitness, the hiking trail to Topići is a real adventure. You start from Gornji Krič, climb towards Topići, descend to Baška Voda and return along the coast back to Brela. Around 10 kilometres and four hours of walking — but the coastal return is the perfect reward that erases every effort.

Lungomare Brela: a seaside promenade for all ages

Not every day is a mountain day. Sometimes the most beautiful activity is simply walking along the sea with no particular destination and no rush. The Lungomare promenade in Brela stretches along the coast from Vrulja through Brela to Baška Voda — around 8.5 kilometres with not a single climb. Ideal for families with children, for a morning walk, or for an evening when the sunset deserves good company.

Hiking trails in Brela are the perfect way to discover more than just the beach. The sea and the mountains here live side by side, inviting you to explore both. Grab a map, bring plenty of water, put on a good pair of shoes and go. 🥾
